'WOOL' at Romford Film Festival

Updated: Aug 23, 2022

We are still over the moon from the incredibly day at Romford Film Festival and the lovely words Louise shared before announcing the Special Commendation for WOOL. This Film was never just going to be a labour of love, but the representation of an experience felt by millions.

"This award goes to a beautifully directed, unique take on the hostile, repulsive negativity domestic abuse brings into a relationship. It is a cleverly crafted tale in which the protagonist quite rightly decides 'enough is enough, I won't be the victim anymore. No longer a pushover and the scapegoat for your insecurities. From this moment, I am a survivor’. An amazing message that is told in a truly special way. If you didn't catch it, it's a shame, because you have missed something really wonderful"

This 9 minute no-dialogue short film was developed after a conversation Dympna had with her friend about a charming boyfriend who suddenly turns controlling when the relationship becomes official.

With the script having been developed in 2020 and entered in three competitions (having been commended in all of them) we are so glad WOOL found a home at Romford.
